Cranbrook School is seeking an experienced Geography Teacher to teach Geography to Senior School students and help lead our Social Science Department.

<p><strong>ABOUT THE POSITION</strong></p> <p>This is a full-time position based at the Senior School campus in Bellevue Hill.</p> <p>In addition to teaching Geography, this role will develop and implement academic, assessment and reporting programmes in accordance with School and NESA syllabus and assessment requirements, oversee the implementation of Departmental policy, maintain appropriate and accurate records of programmes and student progress and achievement, co-ordinate teaching programmes and facilitate student learning, recommend resources and advise the Head of Department on budgetary requirements, liaise with the Head of Department on the allocation of teachers and students to courses and classes in accordance with School policy and assist in the mentoring of new staff.</p> <p>The position will be offered as a permanent appointment to our teaching staff accompanied by a three-year contract as the Assistant Head of Department – Geography.&nbsp;</p> <p>Teachers at Cranbrook take an active and enthusiastic part in the full life of the School, including involvement in the School’s co-curricular program requiring work outside normal teaching hours.&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>ABOUT YOU</strong></p> <p>You are a progressive, globally minded, enthusiastic and dedicated educator, with the ability to inspire students in their love of learning and in the pursuit of excellence</p> <p>Capable of working collaboratively with a team to plan and deliver high quality teaching and learning programmes, and possessing an exemplary understanding of best practice, you sustain a deep commitment to implement rigorous, highly differentiated programmes in a senior school setting.&nbsp;</p> <p>You are an excellent communicator, creative, and able to work well with students, parents and other teachers. You are committed to continual professional development and reflection, and have a genuine interest in the growth of young people.</p> <p><strong>SELECTION CRITERIA</strong></p> <ul> <li>Tertiary qualifications with the ability to teach Geography to secondary school students.&nbsp;</li> <li>NESA accreditation to teach in New South Wales</li> <li>Sound knowledge and understanding of the NSW Curriculum and current teaching and learning theory and practice</li> <li>Mentoring experience or experience coordinating a small team</li> <li>Highly organised, detail-focused, resourceful and with the ability to work under pressure in order to meet deadlines</li> <li>Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to cultivate good working relationships with key stakeholders</li> <li>Demonstrated expertise in using data effectively to inform teaching practice</li> <li>Demonstrated ability to deal with issues proactively, take ownership of tasks, demonstrate initiative and produce work of a consistently high standard</li> <li>Capacity to create a motivating and engaging learning environment that caters to the diverse needs of all learners through varied teaching strategies and pedagogical practices to maximise learning</li> <li>A level of mobility that supports the ability to respond to a first aid / behavioural incident&nbsp;</li> <li>Current First Aid and CPR qualifications&nbsp;</li> <li>A firm commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children&nbsp;</li> <li>A demonstrated understanding of child safety and appropriate behaviours when engaging with children.&nbsp;</li> </ul> <p><strong>CLOSING DATE: 27 July 2025</strong></p> <p><strong>HOW TO APPLY</strong></p> <p>Applications should include a resume and a cover letter addressing the selection criteria and reasons for your interest in the position.
