We are currently seeking a dynamic, innovative, and highly motivated person to begin at Sacred Heart in the new role of Operational Teaching Assistant. The Operational Teaching Assistant (OTA) will play an integral role in supporting a reduction in teacher workload, performing a variety of tasks typically handled by teachers that do not require formal teaching training.

It is Victoria’s energy centre<br> and situated 150 kilometres east of Melbourne on the lands of the Gunaikurnai People, with a population of<br> 15,000. Our teams work collaboratively, planning together and supporting each other<br> to ensure the best outcomes for our students.</p> <p><br> The suitable candidate will be a dynamic, innovative, and highly motivated person. The new role of Operational Teaching Assistant will be working across all levels of the school under the guidance of teachers. The Operational Teaching Assistant (OTA) will play an integral role in supporting areduction in teacher workload. The role involves performing a variety of tasks typically handled by teachers that do not require formal teaching qualifications or registration. The OTA will hold these responsibilities, providing teachers with more time to focus on student learning.</p> <p><br><strong>Status: </strong>Ongoing and full-time position</p> <p><br><strong>Commencement Date:</strong> 21st July 2025</p> <p><br><strong>Duties and responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:</strong><br> ● Completing tasks related to classroom administration, including preparing the classroom and learning<br> resources, sourcing or creating learning materials, and keeping accurate records of other classroom-related data, including data entry of student assessment data and production of reports.<br> ● Communicating non-academic information to parents/carers through the relevant school platform, such as classroom-specific events or reminders.<br> ● Supporting teachers in organising and coordinating classroom and school events, excursions, and extracurricular activities.<br> ● Communication with teachers on routine matters related to students and/or other responsibilities.<br> ● Other administrative duties as directed by the nominated direct reporter</p> <p><br><strong>Key Selection Criteria</strong></p> <p><br> ● Demonstrated strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks.<br> ● Demonstrated strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport withstudents, staff, and families.<br> ● Demonstrated flexibility to undertake an unexpected task at short notice and to demonstrate a level of initiative to complete these in a timely manner.<br> ● Demonstrated capacity to work effectively in a team and take direction from teachers and school leadership<br> ● Demonstrated ability to effectively operate Microsoft Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook, and the ability to learn new software applications quickly.<br> ● Demonstrated strong written communication skills, including the capacity to clearly convey information, craft professional emails and reports, and adapt writing style to suit different audiences and purposes.</p> <p>● Understanding of Catholic ethos.<br> ● A commitment to Child Safety.</p> <p><strong>Benefits:</strong><br> ● Salary earning ($56,579 -$72,459)<br> ● Salary increases each January and July (Diocese of Sale Catholic Education Limited<br> Schools and Secretariat Agreement 2022)<br> ● Annual leave loading<br> ● Staff access to Salary Packaging<br> ● Flexible leave day<br> ● Access to an employee assistance program.<br> ● Conditions of employment are per the Diocese of Sale Catholic Education Limited Schools and Secretariat Agreement 2022</p>
