Join our vibrant College canteen team! Assist with food prep, service, and creating a welcoming environment for students and staff.
<p>We are seeking suitably experienced Canteen Assistants to join our College on a casual basis.<br><br>
This position is responsible for supporting the daily operations of the College Canteen, including preparing and serving food, managing lunch orders, maintaining cleanliness and hygiene standards, operating point-of-sale systems, and assisting with catering requirements for the College.<br><br>
The days and hours of work will vary based on operational needs and may be across any of the College’s three campuses: Berwick, Officer, and Beaconsfield. Staff will be required to be available between 7:00 am and 3:00 pm.</p>
<p><br><strong>Key responsibilities include:</strong><br>
</p>
<ul>
<li>Prepare, assemble, and present food items in line with food safety standards and College expectations.</li>
<li>Maintain cleanliness and hygiene across all kitchen and service areas, including proper sanitisation of dishes and utensils.</li>
<li>Operate the point-of-sale (POS) system accurately and provide friendly customer service to students and staff.</li>
<li>Replenish, rotate, and manage stock in accordance with storage procedures and freshness guidelines.</li>
<li>Accurately prepare and package lunch orders for staff and students, ensuring timely delivery.</li>
<li>Monitor inventory levels and assist with placing orders to meet operational demands.</li>
<li>Support College catering needs for events and functions through preparation, setup, and service.</li>
<li>Assist with annual stocktakes and general canteen administration as required.</li>
<li>Undertake other duties as directed to ensure the effective daily operation of the College canteen.</li>

<p><br><strong>The successful candidate will have the following experience, skills and attributes:</strong><br>

<li>Previous experience in a school canteen, hospitality, or food service environment.</li>
<li>Sound understanding of Food Handling and Food Safety standards and practices.</li>
<li>Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced team environment with short turnaround times.</li>
<li>Strong interpersonal skills with a friendly, approachable manner and a commitment to providing excellent customer service.</li>
<li>Good verbal and written communication skills.</li>
<li>Knowledge of, or willingness to learn, point-of-sale (POS) systems and stock rotation procedures.</li>
<li>Awareness of Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S) standards and a proactive approach to maintaining a safe work environment.</li>
<li>A flexible and reliable work ethic, with the ability to adapt to changing demands and assist with a range of canteen tasks.</li>
