This role is to embed a Diocesan wide program that provides long term solutions to the academic underachievement of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students that is inclusive of parents/carers and the wider Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community.

<p><strong>Position&nbsp;</strong></p> <p>Temporary contract for 12 months (maternity leave replacement), 0.6 FTE - 1 FTE negotiable.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>Position Purpose</strong></p> <p>This role is to embed a Diocesan wide program that provides long term solutions to the academic underachievement of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students that is inclusive of parents/carers and the wider Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community.</p> <p>The Coordinator Wii Gaay and Cultural Assessments role is to raise the self-efficacy of identified Wii Gaay Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students towards education so as to enable them to develop their true learning potential.</p> <p>This role also supports schools in building the capacity to develop and action high impact teaching and learning strategies for all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students enrolled in their school.</p> <p>This role adheres to the&nbsp;<i><strong>“Living Well Learning Well Student Support&nbsp; Framework’&nbsp;</strong></i>which is underpinned by a universal and unconditional positive regard for children and young people, and a high regard for the collective capacity of a school staff team to increase learning, wellbeing and life-opportunity outcomes for children and young people.&nbsp;</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>Commencement</strong></p> <p>The commencement will be negotiated with the successful applicant.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>Essential criteria</strong></p> <ul> <li>Deep understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and its history within Australia, NSW and local communities</li> <li>An appreciation of and the cultural competency to respond to—Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander history, cultures and contemporary social dynamics and to the diversity of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities</li> <li>Valuing the cultural skills and knowledge of community organisations and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people</li> <li>An understanding of the Coolibah Dynamic Assessment and High Potential Learning in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students</li> <li>Have a preparedness for building relationships of trust, respect and honesty</li> <li>Being accessible, having ongoing communication and sharing of relevant&nbsp;
