Governess wanted at Lassie Creek Station (1 hr from Townsville) to support distance ed for two young boys & provide play-based care for toddler. Start Term 3, 14 July 2025. Separate accommodation provided. Must have Blue Card, First Aid, licence & own vehicle. Flexible, child-led, neuro-affirming approach essential.

<p><strong>About Our Family:</strong></p>
<p>We are an easy going, busy family living on a cattle station in North Queensland. We are located 1 hour out of Townsville or 1.5 hours out of Charters Towers. As well as managing the cattle station we have a bucking bull contracting business. Our two eldest children are enrolled in distance education programs, and we are seeking a kind, patient, fun, and reliable Governess to join our family and support their learning and wellbeing. The role is based in our purpose-built schoolroom, separate from the main house, and includes accommodation also separate to the family home (with own kitchen/bathroom).</p>
<p><strong>About the Role:</strong></p>
<p>You will be responsible for guiding our two sons through their schooling and providing light play-based support to our toddler after school hours. The role requires a combination of patience, organisation, and creativity, and would suit someone who is passionate about early and primary education in a home-based setting.</p>
<p><strong>Children’s Schooling:</strong></p>
<p>• <strong>Son (7 years old, 8 in September, Year 2)</strong> – enrolled in Charters Towers School of Distance Education</p>
<p>• <strong>Son (almost 5 years old)</strong> – enrolled in eKindy via Brisbane School of Distance Education,</p>
<p>• <strong>Daughter (2.5 years old, 3 in October)</strong> – involvement in craft and play after formal schooling hours.</p>
<p><strong>Key Responsibilities:</strong></p>
<p>• Deliver and support daily learning tasks for both school-aged children, following their distance education programs.</p>
<p>• Supervise and facilitate online lessons and maintain communication with teaching staff and parents.</p>
<p>• Provide a calm, encouraging, and structured but fun learning environment.</p>
<p>• Adapt to and support the specific learning needs of both children. A neuro-affirming, flexible approach is essential.</p>
<p>• Include our youngest child in play-based activities of an afternoon.</p>
<p>• Attend school cluster days and town-based events alongside the family as required.</p>
<p>• Maintain a high standard of cleanliness and organisation in the schoolroom.</p>
<p><strong>Requirements:</strong></p>
<p>• Genuine love of children and passion for education.</p>
<p>• Experience working with children in an educational role such as experienced governess in a multi-age classroom or experienced teacher.</p>
<p>• A calm, kind, patient, and emotionally mature approach to caregiving and teaching.</p>
<p>• Willingness to adjust teaching strategies to meet individual learning styles.</p>
<p>• Good communication skills and confidence using technology.</p>
<p>• Must hold a current <strong>Working with Children Blue Card </strong>or be eligible to obtain one.</p>
<p>• Current First Aid Certificate (or willingness to obtain).</p>
<p>• Valid driver’s licence and own vehicle (7km of decent dirt road into station from main road).</p>
<p>• Able to handle the remote setting and isolation (be comfortable with your own company and free time on weekends and after work hours. Only 2 small young families living on the station)</p>
