<p>Arndell Anglican College is a vibrant, P-12 Christ-centred learning community, through which Jesus is made known.&nbsp;The College prides itself on our high-quality pastoral care, academic development, and Christian programs.&nbsp;For our staff this means that we are driven by a passion to know who we are as a community and to do what we do well.</p> <p>Situated on 30 acres between Rouse Hill and Windsor, Arndell caters for a growing population of almost 1300 students – with over 500 in Junior School (Prep to Year 6) and just under 800 in Secondary School (Years 7 to 12).&nbsp;Students are encouraged to grow in their individual abilities and interests within a learning environment that promotes optimism, respect, and ownership.</p> <p><strong>Position Overview</strong></p> <p>At Arndell Anglican College we are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented <strong>Laboratory Technician</strong> to support our Science Department in ensuring the smooth and safe operation of all laboratory-based teaching and learning activities. &nbsp;This vital role enhances the experience of secondary students engaged in science studies and supports a range of science-based co-curricular programs. &nbsp;This is a permanent / ongoing term time only position.</p> <p><strong>Key Responsibilities</strong></p> <ul> <li>Prepare and maintain laboratory equipment, chemicals, and materials for scheduled lessons and practical demonstrations.</li> <li>Support teaching staff in the setup and delivery of experiments, including microbiological media preparation, slide staining (eg. Gram staining), and solution preparation.</li> <li>Ensure safe storage, handling, and disposal of laboratory materials in compliance with relevant health and safety regulations.</li> <li>Maintain accurate inventories of chemicals, equipment, and consumables.</li> <li>Develop risk assessments and implement safety protocols for laboratory activities.</li> <li>Assist in the maintenance and cleanliness of laboratory spaces and equipment.</li> <li>Trial experiments ahead of lessons to ensure functionality and safety.</li> </ul> <p><strong>About You</strong></p> <p>You are passionate about science education and laboratory safety. &nbsp;You have a keen eye for detail, excellent organisational skills, and a collaborative mindset. &nbsp;Your ability to support and work closely with teaching staff ensures a safe and effective learning environment for all students.</p> <p><strong>Essential Skills &amp; Experience:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Diploma of Applied Science or Certificate IV in Laboratory Techniques or similar.</li> <li>Experience in laboratory management or a similar technical support role with experience in an education environment an advantage.</li> <li>Strong understanding of health and safety regulations in an educational or scientific setting.</li> <li>Proficiency in preparing solutions, maintaining cultures, and handling laboratory equipment.</li> <li>Excellent communication and organisational skills.</li> <li>Ability to work independently and as part of a team.</li> </ul> <p><strong>What We Offer</strong></p> <p>At Arndell, you'll enjoy working in a collaborative, respectful, and well-resourced environment.
