<p><strong>About the Role</strong> </p>
<p>As a Safeguarding Partner reporting to the Safeguarding Lead, you will ensure CSBB is supported with safeguarding practices and culture in meeting safeguarding responsibilities. </p>
<p>This role is critical in supporting the management and prevention of safeguarding incidents as well as a proactive safeguarding culture. This includes conducting and responding to reportable allegations, supporting staff with their Mandatory Reporting and child protection obligations and assisting to promote a child safe culture. This role is also responsible for increasing CSBB employee's awareness of their safeguarding commitments though process improvement, learning and communication.</p>
<p>This is a <strong>permanent full-time role</strong> within the Capability and Enablement of our People Workstream. Ideally, we are looking for someone who can start at short notice.</p>
<p><strong>Key role responsibilities:</strong> </p>
<ul>
<li>Provides support and advice to the Safeguarding Lead and other CSBB staff regarding safeguarding related policies, practices and legislative obligations</li>
<li>A deep commitment to safeguarding as everyone’s responsibility and prioritising child safety</li>
<li>Conducts fair and accurate investigations of allegations against employees in accordance with the NSW Children’s Guardian Act 2019 and consistent with CSBB investigation protocols and practices</li>
<li>Provides support and advice to the Safeguarding Lead and CSBB staff regarding the assessment and management of risk of significant harm concerns for students and families at risk, policies and practices at CSBB in line with the Working with Children Check in accordance with the Child Protection (Working with Children) Act 2012</li>
<li>Provide support and assist with professional standards cases with a trauma informed approach including National Redress and Civil Claim matters and case manage as required</li>
<li>Provides support and advice to School Principals, school staff and the wider school community in relation to all aspects of safeguarding, including Child Safe Standards</li>
<li>Works collaboratively with all Safeguarding team members to provide professional safeguarding practices</li>
<li>Maintains accurate record keeping practices to ensure accountability and transparency in decision making and to ensure information is managed in an organised, systematic way in a secure and confidential environment. This includes the administration of case files</li>
<li>Builds professional networks with external regulatory authorities, other professional organisations and work collaboratively with interagency partners in the safeguarding sector </li>
<li>Contributes to the development and delivery of safeguarding professional development initiatives </li>
<li>Assists with audits of schools and CSBB in line with the school review and development process in order to meet compliance </li>
<li>Participates in cross-sector and cross-workstream initiatives both within CSBB and within the Diocese relating to the safety, welfare and wellbeing of children and young people and promote systems and programs for the prevention of child abuse and neglect</li>
<li>Keeps abreast of current issues and trends in the NSW child protection system, National Catholic Safeguarding Standards, NSW child safe Standards, Working with Children legislation </li>
<li>Takes on and delivers projects as assigned by the Safeguarding Lead working collaboratively across workstreams and agencies as required</li>
<li>Contributes to the implementation and continuous improvement of child safe standards within CSBB and schools to ensure compliance and build a culture of safety</li>

<p><strong>About You</strong> </p>
<p>As the ideal candidate you will meet the following key requirements: </p>
<ul>
<li>Supportive of, or can demonstrate an understanding and commitment to, the ethos of the Catholic faith in an educational context</li>
<li>10 years or more experience in a similar Safeguarding Partner, Child Protection or Investigations role</li>
<li>Experience in conducting workplace investigations relating to conduct towards children and/or other workplace investigations ideally with Reportable Conduct experience (highly desirable)</li>
<li>Relevant undergraduate qualifications (e.g. social work, psychology, social welfare, law, investigations)</li>
<li>An ability to provide effective and professional advice and support for schools in relation to managing allegations against employees of inappropriate behaviour towards children and young people, risk of significant harm and wellbeing concerns for students and families at risk, Child Safe Standards and WWCC’s</li>
<li>A strong work ethic with a solutions-focused mindset and commitment to building strong professional relationships with various stakeholders and collaboration</li>
<li>Risk of Significant Harm, Mandatory Reporting experience will be highly advantageous</li>
<li>Knowledge of Child Safe Standards and safeguarding practices and their application in an education setting</li>
<li>Understanding of sound record keeping practices to ensure accountability, transparency and confidentiality</li>
<li>Have the ability to ensure confidentiality at all times and role model professional boundaries</li>
<li>Capacity to work at the specialist level - i.e. an advanced level of expertise in a specialised area and show technical knowledge in Child Protection and Safeguarding, and the Child Safe Standards </li>
<li>Comprehensive understanding of the Catholic education context and understands relevant Catholic education issues (desirable)</li>
<li>Is adaptive and responsive to change and can adapt to working under pressure and re-prioritising tasks</li>
<li>Has advanced knowledge and skill in the Microsoft suite of products</li>
</ul>
