An exciting opportunity awaits a dedicated EAL/English teacher at a welcoming Catholic school in Melbourne’s West. This role supports newly arrived Years 7–10 students in building English skills and adjusting to school life. The school fosters collaboration, diversity, and student engagement, while maintaining a supportive environment.

<p><strong>Key duties:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Develop and implement a comprehensive English/EAL curriculum aligned with educational standards and guidelines.</li> <li>Adapt curriculum materials to meet the diverse needs of students with varying language proficiency levels.</li> <li>Create engaging and effective lesson plans that address the four language skills: listening, speaking, reading, and writing.</li> <li>Differentiate instruction to accommodate students with varying abilities and language backgrounds.</li> <li>Collaborate with learning support staff to address the needs of students with diverse learning requirements.</li> <li>Engage in continuous professional development to stay updated on language education methodologies, educational technologies, and best practices.</li> </ul> <p><strong>Skills &amp; Experience:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Current VIT registration</li> <li>Full, unrestricted working rights in Australia</li> <li>Proven experience teaching EAL in a secondary school setting (Australia or NZ)</li> <li>Familiarity with the Catholic education system – highly regarded but not essential</li> <li>Recent graduates are encouraged to apply – we welcome fresh perspectives!</li> <li>Two education-based references from the past five years (student-teacher mentors are acceptable)</li> </ul> <p><strong>Offering:</strong></p> <ul> <li><strong>Full-time preferred</strong> – but we’re happy to consider 4 days per week for the right candidate</li> <li><strong>Support newly arrived students</strong> in Years 7–10 as they develop English skills and settle into school life</li> <li><strong>Work closely with a supportive, transparent leadership team</strong> that values your input</li> <li><strong>Take an active role</strong> in planning and shaping the direction of the EAL faculty</li> <li><strong>Enjoy a competitive salary</strong>, reflective of your experience and dedication</li> </ul> <p><strong>The School:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Be part of a vibrant school community with around 600 students across Years 7–10</li> <li>Join a school known for its great academic results and high expectations</li> <li>Thrive in a diverse, multicultural environment where every background is valued</li> <li>Enjoy the benefits of supportive leadership and smaller team structures, making collaboration and planning more effective</li> <li>Access excellent professional development opportunities to grow your career</li> </ul>
