We are seeking a passionate and experienced EAL/D teacher (0.4FTE) to join our Learning Enhancement team on a maternity leave contract. Working within our Junior School, this is an excellent opportunity to make a meaningful impact supporting students from diverse linguistic and cultural backgrounds while they develop their English language skills.

Working within our Junior School, this is an excellent opportunity to make a meaningful impact supporting students from diverse linguistic and cultural backgrounds while they develop their English language skills.</p> <p><strong>What You Will Do</strong></p> <ol> <li>Collaborate with the Junior School leadership team, Coordinator of Learning Enhancement, teachers, parents, and carers to identify and implement practices to enhance EAL/D student learning outcomes</li> <li>Network with other EAL/D teachers to share knowledge of trends and evidence-based practices</li> <li>Assist with the planning, preparation and delivery of effective learning and teaching programs for EAL/D students, with a focus on English language acquisition across the curriculum</li> <li>Work with classroom teachers to deliver differentiated teaching and learning programs that maximise EAL/D student learning outcomes</li> <li>Develop resources and strategies to help EAL/D students meet curriculum requirements</li> <li>Assist with EAL/D student wellbeing as well as the promotion of cultural and social inclusion</li> <li>Identify EAL/D students' needs, develop Individual Learning Plans and prepare intervention responses for those requiring additional support.</li> </ol> <p>&nbsp;<strong>What You Will Bring</strong></p> <ul> <li>NESA Accreditation to teach students in years P-6</li> <li>TESOL or specialist EAL/D qualifications (e.g., Applied Linguistics, TESOL, and Second Language Acquisition)</li> <li>Proven experience supporting EAL/D students in a Junior School context</li> <li>Deep understanding of current TESOL research and high-quality EAL/D pedagogy</li> <li>Extensive experience providing professional learning that enhances teacher capacity to assess and address EAL/D students' English language and learning needs</li> <li>Ability to prioritise, multitask and problem-solve</li> <li>Excellent attention to detail, and ability to work to a high standard</li> <li>Strong written and verbal communication skills</li> <li>Good grooming and personal presentation</li> <li>Ability to follow instructions, work unsupervised and be a cooperative team member</li> <li>A valid Working with Children Clearance (WWCC) and First Aid certificate (or willingness to obtain).</li> </ul> <p>The successful applicant will enjoy a vibrant and interesting work environment and being part of a team of talented people.</p> <p>Please <strong>apply via SEEK </strong>with your cover letter and resume by <strong>11.59pm on Wednesday 11 June.</strong></p> <p>In your application, please include your WWCC; First Aid and CPR details (if you have these); as well as the names and contact details of two referees.</p> <p>Further information, including a position description is available at<strong> </strong>https://ascham.school/careers</p> <p>We are keen to fill this role immediately and will reach out to candidates of interest as we receive their applications.
