there is confidence in the procedures for reporting suspicion of child abuse and neglect.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>Preamble</strong></p> <p>The Food Technology Assistant works closely with the teachers of Food Technology and Food Studies and contributes to the overall success of this area.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>Qualities Required</strong></p> <ol> <li>Friendly and warm <li>Loyalty to the College and its staff.</li> <li>Ability to work flexibly.</li> </ol> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>Skills/Training Needed</strong></p> <ol> <li>Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.</li> <li>Strong organisation skills.</li> <li>Good understanding of the operations of a secondary school.</li> <li>Excellent food handling skills.</li> <li>First Aid Level 2 (or willingness to obtain this).</li> <li> <p>Anaphylaxis training – ASCIA e-training for Victorian Schools with verification</p> <p>of practical application completed within 30 days, to be fully compliant.</p></li> <li>Completion of DET mandatory reporting e-learning module (non-government schools).</li> <li>Relevant food handling certificate highly desirable (e.g. Department of Health Victoria’s food safety course recommended)</li> </ol> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>Child Safe Standards</strong></p> <p>The&nbsp;Food Technology Assistant&nbsp;must be:</p> <ul> <li>committed to the safety and wellbeing of all children and young people.</li> <li>able to demonstrate an understanding of the Child Safe Standards and their legal obligations under the Ministerial Order No. 1359.</li> <li>a suitable person to be engaged in working with children and young people.</li> <li>able to understand and commit to Child Safe Standards and expectations relating to Melbourne Archdiocese Catholic Schools (MACS), PROTECT, VRQA and VIT.</li> <li>able to demonstrate an understanding of and commitment to Child Safety protocols, Codes of Conduct and to ensuring the Child Safe focus of St Joseph’s College.</li> </ul> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>St Joseph’s College is a Child Safe College.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>Duties will include:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Communicate requirements for equipment as required by the department.</li> <li>Communicate relevant matters to the Technology Leader.</li> <li>Set up materials/equipment for all practical classes.</li> <li>Assist teachers and students in all practical classes.</li> <li>Consultation with teachers re practical classes as required.</li> <li>Ensure all equipment and kitchens have been left clean and tidy before class is dismissed.</li> <li>Maintain order and cleanliness of kitchen, fridges, cool rooms and storerooms.</li> <li>Ensure all the washing and drying of tea towels at the completion of each practical class.</li> <li>Clean cool rooms and storerooms.&nbsp;This is done at least once per term.</li> <li>Communicate any relevant matters to Maintenance e.g. the exhausts, air-conditioners and ceiling fans to be cleaned.</li> <li>Administer online ordering.</li> <li>Assist with the maintenance of financial records of Food Technology expenditure.</li> <li>Cleaning of ovens and stoves tops and sides.</li> <li>Cleaning of individual kitchen/s including equipment stored under the sinks</li> <li>Checking all equipment is clean and in working order.</li> <li>Check inventory to ensure all kitchens have all the required equipment.</li> <li>Check that appliances have all their fittings.</li> <li>Clean out fridges and cool rooms of all perishables as appropriate to the time of term.</li> <li>Defrosting of areas where appropriate.</li> <li>Washing and drying of items such as tea towels, tablecloths, first aid items e.g. pillow slips/sheets.&nbsp;</li> <li>Assistance (during work hours) with particular College events e.g. set-up/pack up of catering items.</li> <li>Ordering and maintaining milk etc in the Staff areas with attention to differences in term and holiday time.</li> <li>Other duties as advised by the Principal (or delegate) and/or Technology Leader including general administrative duties as required.</li> </ul> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>Key Performance Indicators</strong></p> <ul> <li>Ability an appropriate professional development plan.</li> </ul> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>Terms and Conditions</strong></p> <p>Salaries and conditions are set by the <i>CEMEA 2022.&nbsp;</i> The position is Category B.&nbsp;</p> <p>On a day-to-day basis, position reports to the Technology Leader.&nbsp;</p> <p>Overall, position reports to the Principal or Principal’s delegate.</p> <p>Part-Time approx. 0.8FTE.
