Galilee School is seeking an experienced teacher to fulfill requirements of their Curriculum Coordinator position and who can provide disadvantaged and vulnerable young people a supportive teaching and learning environment. Commencing from Term 3 2025.

<p><strong>About the role </strong><br>
</p>
<p>Under guidance and support of the Head of Teaching and Learning, the Curriculum Coordinator works closely as part of the Galilee School team to develop and implement lessons and programs aligned with the Australian Curriculum and the Student Support Framework, in addition to supporting the students in their day to day studies and activities at the Galilee School. </p>
<p>This position will coordinate and lead the design of processes and strategies within the school that enable young people attending the school to engage with the curriculum in ways that are specific and targeted to their needs and their particular learning journey. Synergistic to this will be the development of guidelines, programs and procedures, in consultation with the Head of Teaching and Learning and Head of Student Support as well as with the broader Transitions team within the school, that encourage positive transitions for young people into, through and out of the school to connect with their next stage of education, employment and/or training. </p>
<p>In addition, this position will be integral to the development of guidelines, programs and procedures, in consultation with the Head of Teaching and Learning and Head of Student Support, to support models of flexible and online delivery suitable for the cohort of students attending Galilee School. </p>

<p>These are full-time opportunities. The potential exists for part-time opportunities also via negotiation with successful applicants. </p>

<p><strong>Duties </strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Act as a representative for the organisation at all times by adhering to the vision, mission, and philosophy of the organisation </li>
<li>Plan, prepare and deliver quality and effective teaching and learning programs which are consistent with the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers and relevant syllabi, curriculum, policies, work programs and educational trends </li>
<li>Continue the development and refinement of guidelines, programs and procedures, in consultation with the Head of Teaching and Learning and Head of Student Support, to support the design and delivery of the Teaching & Learning model for the cohort of students attending Galilee School. </li>
<li>Develop guidelines, programs and procedures, in consultation with the Head of Teaching and Learning and Head of Student Support as well as with the broader Transitions team within the school, that encourage positive transitions for young people into, through and out of the school to connect with their next stage of education, employment and/or training. This may include appropriate referrals to alternative education, employment and training opportunities as well as the promotion of work-based learning opportunities with Canberra region employers and building strong relationships and partnerships with those employers </li>
<li>Develop guidelines, programs and procedures, in consultation with the Head of Teaching and Learning and Head of Student Support, to support models of flexible and online delivery suitable for the cohort of students attending Galilee School. </li>
<li>Maintain records regarding Certificates and Units of Competency being completed by all students at the school </li>
<li>Work collaboratively with teachers across the school and with the guidance of the Head of Teaching and Learning to clearly articulate learning goals for students at Galilee School, in line with the requirements of external agencies such as the ACT Board of Senior Secondary Studies and ACARA </li>
<li>Work collaboratively with the Head of Teaching & Learning and other staff to analyse available educational data to identify opportunities to improve teaching and learning practices within the school. Share this analysis with the appropriate members of staff and support colleagues in making effective use of this data to improve teaching practices. </li>
<li>Ensure the scope and sequence of learning is documented and implemented. </li>
<li>Maintain teaching competency and currency of knowledge of relevant curriculum programs required by the school or other relevant statutory authorities </li>
<li>Assist in the preparation of Individual Learning Plans [ILPS] for students in collaboration with the Head of Teaching and Learning, teachers, students, our Student Support Team and parents/carers </li>
<li>Assess students [diagnostic, formative and summative] for development, feedback and reporting purposes </li>
<li>Provide for the social, cultural and emotional wellbeing and the physical safety of students whist at school and enhance their overall development towards effective citizenship and responsible adulthood through participation in timetabled, non-timetabled and planned extra curricula activities </li>
<li>Maintain student records and samples of work and report on student performance to student’s parents/carers, and other relevant stakeholders </li>
<li>Complete the writing of incident and accident reports as required in a timely manner </li>
<li>Assist in the transportation of students in support of their attendance at school as well as in support of the school’s academic and social and emotional program. </li>
<li>Participate as appropriate in school decision making processes and professional development </li>
<li>Participate in both school meetings, and Communities@Work organisational meetings as required </li>

</ul>
<p><strong>Skills and Experience</strong></p>
<p><u>Essential </u></p>
<ul>
<li>Relevant qualification in Teaching/Education </li>
<li>Current or eligible to achieve registration with the ACT Teacher Quality Institute [TQI] </li>
<li>Personal experience of educational management and collaborative practices in a similar school environment and a sound knowledge of learning and pedagogy for a similar student cohort </li>
<li>Substantial demonstrated experience of strategic development of learning, teaching and educational programs particularly in the areas of student transitions, career education, vocational learning, or similar areas </li>
<li>Knowledge of the broader academic field including the Australian Curriculum and ACT BSSS Curriculum and requirements </li>
<li>Ability to develop, implement and monitor case and support plans for the assessment of educational, emotional and support needs of students at the school </li>
<li>Confidence and experience in the design, development and implementation of units of work based on the Australian Curriculum and differentiate across a variety of learning needs. </li>
<li>Ability to communicate with diverse audiences which include staff, parents and the wider community </li>
<li>High level interpersonal skills and cooperative work practices and the ability to operate effectively as part of a positive and cohesive team </li>
<li>Willingness to adhere to, and work within, the strategic vision, direction, and philosophy of Communities@Work Galilee School </li>
<li>Maintain current ‘Working with Vulnerable People’ registration </li>
<li>Mental Health First Aid Training (or able to obtain). </li>
</ul>
<p><u>Desirable</u></p>
<ul>
<li>Understanding of trauma informed practices or capacity to develop that understanding </li>
<li>Demonstrated understanding of the Positive Behaviour Support strategies and practices, Restorative Practices and/or other related best practice models </li>
<li>Experience in the design and or delivery of online/flexible learning programs for students within a similar cohort </li>
<li>Knowledge and understanding of Disability Standards for Education </li>
<li>Current drivers licence </li>
