The Head of Student Inclusion and Welfare role is primarily responsible for overseeing all aspects of student inclusion, student health and welfare. This role is a senior education leadership position in the College which reports directly to the Director of Teaching and Learning.

<p>The College is seeking a Head of Student Inclusion and Welfare. The Head of Student Inclusion and Welfare role is primarily responsible for overseeing all aspects of student inclusion, student health and welfare. This role is a senior education leadership position in the College which reports directly to the Director of Teaching and Learning. The role includes responsibility for P-12 Day and Distance students with a specific focus on inclusion and welfare of students. This role works hand-in-hand with the college Deputy Principals to ensure that all student needs are being met in the area of inclusive education, student health and welfare. </p>
<p>The ideal candidate will support the College Christian ethos as well as the vision and academic goals for the College as outlined in the Strategic Plan. This is an integral part of the Riverside Teaching & Learning Framework that provides a quality Christian education.</p>
<p>The Head of Student Inclusion and Welfare will be responsible for</p>
<ul>
<li>Latest theory and best practice of effective educational leadership and management</li>
<li>Educational research in leading improvement, innovation and change</li>
<li>Current trends influencing best educational practice for inclusive education and student welfare</li>
<li>Current and future accountability and requirements in the education sector</li>
<li>Relevant national policies, practices and initiatives as well as relevant federal and state legislation, agreements and policies</li>
<li>Child safety, health and wellbeing, and human resource management</li>
<li>Financial management and accountability requirements</li>
<li>
<p>Resource management of staffing, facilities, and infrastructure.<strong> </strong></p>
<p><strong>Teaching and Learning</strong></p></li>
<li>Participate as part of the College Senior Educational Leadership Team.</li>
<li>Meet regularly with the Director of Teaching and Learning to discuss and seek approval for student inclusion and welfare cases including identification and review of reports from specialists, Individual Education Plans, Support Plans, and Behaviour Plans etc.</li>
<li>Lead the Student Welfare Committee</li>
<li>Create referrals as necessary to the College Social Worker and School Nurse</li>
<li>Work with Deputy Principals to ensure that all tier 3 student behaviours have a clear behaviour plan (for inclusive education students) and/or welfare plan (all students) in place.</li>
<li>Administration of and adherence to relevant policies and procedures, including legislative requirements for students with disability, children in care, English as an additional language or dialect and Indigenous students.</li>
<li>Administration of the National Consistent Collection of Data (NCCD).</li>
<li>Administration of the Queensland Certificate of Individual Achievement (QCIA) and Independent Schools of Queensland (ISQ) requirements, and local procedures for students with disability.</li>
<li>Administration of NAPLAN for students requiring adjustments, in collaboration with the NAPLAN School Administrator.</li>
<li>Lead and manage the Inclusion and Welfare Programs and provide advice to classroom teachers for students with disability and/or learning needs and/or welfare needs.</li>
<li>Provide high quality advice to the school leadership team, classroom teachers and other school staff to develop, plan and implement effective reasonable adjustments for students with disability.</li>
<li>Provide, support and/or coordinate case management for students who require extensive or substantial adjustments within Distance Education and Day Schools.</li>
<li>Support classroom teachers and other school staff to access external specialist services, professional development, and supports as needed.</li>
<li>Assessment, reporting and data for all Inclusive Education students and/or potential inclusive education students: student monitoring of formative and summative results, support offered in class, NAPLAN/PAT testing and writing results.</li>
<li>Coordinate and provide intensive targeted teaching programs for students requiring intervention.</li>
<li>College Initiatives: lead, support and engage staff in inclusive education matters and student welfare initiatives in collaboration with the Director of Teaching and Learning.</li>
<li>
<p>Inclusion and access: Ensure that all students have an opportunity to engage in all learning activities and guide teachers in classroom inclusion practices, differentiation, unit planning, case meetings, monitor and review and NCCD requirements.</p>
<p><strong>Student Welfare</strong></p></li>
<li>Student Welfare: Lead the student welfare committee and ensure college guidelines and processes for care and conduct tier 3, inclusive education and student wellbeing and welfare are followed. Ensure that Child Safety is followed effectively, and staff have a good understanding of Child Safety requirements and training.</li>
<li>Student behaviour support and intervention: Ensure that all tier 3 behaviours are discussed as part of the student welfare committee while respecting privacy and behaviour and/or welfare plans are in place for all students. Ensure that the Director of Teaching and Learning is briefed on all tier 3 matters and intervention approvals have been gained.</li>
<li>
<p>Student Enrolment: Participate in all student enrolments that relate to students with special needs or learning difficulties or potential special needs or learning difficulties and consider feasibility of enrolment.</p>
<p><strong>Community Relationships</strong></p></li>
<li>Form and maintain partnerships with parents, other government agencies, and community groups to support students with disability.</li>
</ul>
<p><strong>Staffing and Support</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Line Management: Line Manage all staff assigned to the Inclusive Education unit including Inclusive Education Teachers and Support Aides.</li>
<li>Staff Performance: Ensure all staff are focused on teaching and learning improvement. Work with all Inclusive Education staff to ensure that the Developing Staff Performance process is followed.</li>
<li>Mentoring: Mentor staff in areas of development.</li>
<li>Recruitment: Engage in the recruitment process of all staff in your area.</li>
<li>Professional Development: Ensure that all staff in your area are well-trained on all college initiatives in collaboration with the Director of Teaching and Learning. Lead professional development of all staff relating to inclusion and welfare of students and arrange professional development for staff in your area as required.</li>
<li>Case Meetings: Ensure that all Inclusive Education Teachers lead case meetings for students in their area and that these are effectively conducted and recorded.</li>
</ul>
<p> <strong>Operational Systems, Processes and Policy</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Student Operations: Ensure that the Schools Management System is up to date and being used effectively by all staff for inclusive education students and student welfare needs.</li>
<li>Budget: Create and oversee all budgets under your budget management. Work with the Director of Teaching and Learning to ensure all requirements for your area are covered in the appropriate budget lines.</li>
<li>Staffing: Manage your staff allocations and staffing budgets effectively in consultation with the Director of Teaching and Learning.</li>
<li>Resourcing: Ensure that your area is well-resourced including technology, educational manipulatives, teacher training and learning materials.</li>
<li>Policy and Procedure: Ensure that all policies and procedures are up to date and provide feedback as required for improvements. Ensure that your staff are trained in all compulsory policy and procedures using the college HR System – ELMO.</li>
<li>Inclusion and Welfare Improvement Plan: Lead the creation, and implementation of the inclusion and welfare improvement plan for the College in consultation with the Director of Teaching and Learning.</li>
<li>Projects: managing assigned projects based upon college initiatives. Each sector will have unique responsibilities that require managing.</li>
</ul>

<li>Demonstrated skills in planning and implementing evidence based (including data driven evidence based) improvement strategies including the ongoing shaping and reviewing of the vision for effective teaching and learning within the College.</li>
<li>Demonstrated qualities of confidence, flexibility, teamwork, resilience, innovation, and perseverance to grow the capacity of an effective learning community</li>
<li>Evidence of a personal commitment to lifelong learning and growth.</li>
<li>Demonstrated skills to support the programs of the College.</li>
