The mission of St Dominic's College is to create a caring environment where excellence in Education is evident within the Catholic tradition and the Spirit of Edmund Rice.</i>&nbsp;</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>An exciting opportunity exists for a skilled and motivated Technical Support Assistant that will join our TAS, Visual Arts &amp; Maintenance teams. This full-time, ongoing position will support the Technological and Applied Studies (TAS), Visual Arts, and Maintenance areas of the College.&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>About the Role</strong>&nbsp;</p> <p>The Technical Support Assistant plays a vital role in supporting the day-to-day operations of the TAS, Visual Arts and Maintenance departments. The successful applicant will work closely with the TAS Coordinator, Visual Arts Coordinator and Maintenance Manager to ensure that workshops, equipment, and materials are maintained to the highest standards. This hands-on role requires a strong understanding of workshop tools, safety protocols, and a proactive approach to managing resources and supporting practical learning environments.&nbsp;</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>Key responsibilities&nbsp;</strong>&nbsp;</p> <ul> <li>Maintain, service, and safely operate a wide range of tools, machinery, and workshop equipment.&nbsp;</li> <li>Work collaboratively with teachers regarding teaching materials and equipment required for classroom and practical lessons.</li> <li>Conduct and record regular machine safety checks using OnGuard.&nbsp;</li> <li>Assist with the organisation, stocktake, and procurement of consumables, materials, and chemicals.&nbsp;</li> <li>Support Visual Arts and Maintenance departments with relevant practical tasks as required.&nbsp;</li> <li>Maintain a clean, orderly, and safe workshop environment in accordance with WHS requirements.&nbsp;</li> <li>Liaise with teachers to coordinate material needs and provide classroom support as required.&nbsp;&nbsp;</li> <li>Undertake daily and weekly workshop routines, including cleaning, restocking, and small repairs.&nbsp;&nbsp;</li> <li>Accept and check deliveries, ensure appropriate tool storage, and replace missing equipment.&nbsp;</li> </ul> <p><strong>Essential Criteria:</strong>&nbsp;</p> <ul> <li>Demonstrated experience with hand tools, power tools, and machinery relevant to a TAS environment.&nbsp;&nbsp;</li> <li>Sound knowledge of WHS practices, particularly within workshop and chemical storage contexts.&nbsp;&nbsp;</li> <li>Good organisational and administrative skills, with proficiency in Microsoft Office.&nbsp;</li> <li>Excellent communication skills and a willingness to work collaboratively with staff.&nbsp;&nbsp;</li> <li>Self-motivated, reliable, and attentive to detail.&nbsp;&nbsp;</li> <li>Ability to prioritise tasks and manage time efficiently in a busy school environment.&nbsp;</li> <li>Commitment to the Catholic ethos of the College and a professional approach to workplace duties. &nbsp;</li> </ul> <p><strong>Highly Desirable Criteria:</strong>&nbsp;</p> <ul> <li>Trade or technical background in a relevant field (e.g. woodworking, metalwork, construction, etc.).&nbsp;</li> <li>Experience in a school or educational setting is advantageous.&nbsp;&nbsp;</li> <li>Familiarity with OnGuard or similar safety management systems.
