Founded by the Sisters of Charity in 1858, and now under the stewardship of Mary Aikenhead Ministries, we are a dynamic learning community, cherishing our Catholic heritage and fostering creativity, courage, discernment and leadership in young women.</p><p>The College is seeking to employ a professional and enthusiastic Boarding Coordinator/s. </p><p>The position is casual with a regular roster and includes overnight passive duty. Staff accommodation is available for exclusive use whilst on duty.</p><p><strong>The ability to work week and/or weekends should be stated in your application. </strong></p><p> </p><p><strong>The Role </strong></p><p>The Boarding Coordinator role supports the Dean of Boarding with the followings:</p><ul><li>Ensuring the well-being, safety, pastoral and academic care of the Boarder</li><li>Possessing knowledge of each Boarder and their families</li><li>Facilitating the behaviours expected of adolescent girls living in community</li><li>Supervision of the day to day routines of boarding life</li><li>Maintaining accurate records and rolls </li><li>Possession of a full knowledge of the Coordinators Handbook, associated procedures, and the College Staff Handbook</li><li>Facilitation of academic progress via supervised study</li><li>Administer medications as required</li><li>Maintaining good relations and communication with parents</li><li>Ensuring the amenity of environment is clean and tidy</li><li>Liaison as required with the Dean of Boarding and other ancillary staff</li><li>Timely communication to the Deans for Junior, Middle and Senior School </li><li>Undertake evacuation and lock-down drills and ensure WHS issues are dealt with</li><li>Aid in planning and implementing the weekend activity program for the Boarders, and the in-weekends</li><li>Maintenance of documentation, including the daily report</li><li>Being available before the beginning of each term and the end of each term, as required, for set up and pack up of Boarders</li><li>Possession of an understanding of the College’s Child Protection Policy, Code of Conduct, Bullying Policy and assist in the implementation of the College’s Workplace, Health and Safety Policy</li><li>Willingness to undertake other duties, on occasion, as required to ensure the smooth running of Boarding House</li><li>Being prepared to undertake an Induction, training in the College Procedures and Policies essential to Boarding, and complete the Duty of Care training provided by Australian Boarding Schools Association</li></ul><p> </p><p><strong>Qualifications / Certifications</strong></p><ul><li>Current Working with Children Check (Employee)(WWCC)  </li><li>Current HLTAID011 (Provide First Aid) and HLTAID009 (Provide CPR) (or willingness to undertake)</li><li>Youth Mental Health First Aid (or willingness to undertake)</li><li>Anaphylaxis and Asthma Certificates (or willingness to undertake)</li><li>Driver Licence (preferred but not essential)</li><li>Duty of Care Certification from ABSA (Australian Boarding Schools Association) (or willingness to undertake)</li><li><p>Other relevant qualifications (e.g. nursing, teaching, youth work, residential care, adolescent health)</p><p> </p></li></ul><p><strong>Knowledge, Competencies, and Experience</strong></p><ul><li>Exceptional written and verbal communication skills</li><li>Superior interpersonal and negotiation skills</li><li>High level information, communication and technology (ICT) skills</li><li>Capacity to maintain a duty of care focus at all times</li><li>Ability to work within a team structure and autonomously</li><li>Understanding of adolescent development, particularly with respect to girls</li><li>Ability to identify Work Health and Safety needs of the Boarding House</li><li>Capacity to support the policies, processes, procedures and routines of the Boarding House</li></ul><p> </p><p><strong>Key Attributes</strong></p><ul><li>Commitment to the Catholic ethos of the school</li><li>Behave in a manner that reflects the vision, mission and values of St Vincent’s College</li><li>Possess a genuine liking for living in a community</li><li>Have a sincere commitment to the care of adolescent girls</li><li>Warm, respectful, compassionate and positive attitude</li><li>Possess high expectations of self and others</li><li>Ability to be an outstanding role model for the Boarders</li><li>Negotiation and mediation skills and ability to defuse escalating situations</li><li>Sensitivity to confidential conversations</li><li>Ability to remain calm under pressure</li><li>ability to recognise “teachable moments” and use these to support the personal growth of the girls</li><li>Commitment to personal and professional learning and development</li><li>Skill in prioritising and multitasking</li><li>Competency in the use of digital technology</li></ul>
