Human Resources Manager

The Human Resource Manager is responsible for supporting the College goals and objectives through the development, implementation and management of HR processes and systems.
<p><strong>Staff Employment and Recruitment</strong></p><ul><li>Implementing and maintaining the College’s staff employment processes and procedures, including advertisements and liaising with relevant recruiting agencies.</li><li>Manage recruitment for all vacancies, ensuring all Child Safeguarding responsibilities are undertaken and recorded.</li><li>Oversee the process following the recruitment of new staff, confirm employee remuneration and prepare all staff documentation based on CECV guidelines and College requirements.</li><li>Manage the College website ‘Employment’ page.</li><li>Manage the departure of staff processes.</li><li>Facilitate appropriate performance management processes, including termination processes, in consultation with the Principal and Senior Deputy Principal.</li><li>Monitor currency of role descriptions for all staff.</li><li>Manage the staff uniform, ensuring purchasing efficiency is maintained and uniform is evolving with the needs of our staff.</li><li>Be an active and engaged presence when there are staff events and activities.</li></ul><p><strong>Induction, Mentoring, and Training</strong></p><ul><li>Support the Senior Deputy Principal and Director of Professional Practice in the implementation of the College’s Induction and Mentoring Program for all new staff and facilitate inductions as required.</li><li>Ensure the College’s EMS360 and ACK Tracker software is managed accurately and efficiently.</li><li>Work with the Risk & Compliance Manager to ensure relevant modules are ready for release. Issue and monitor all Compliance training to staff.</li><li>Support members of the College Leadership Team with lodging Permission to Teach with VIT, and Accreditation to Teach in a Catholic School activities ensuring adequate activities are being offered to staff.</li></ul><p><strong>Health, Safety, and Compliance</strong></p><ul><li>In collaboration with the Risk & Compliance Manager, develop Health & Safety policies and procedures, promoting good health and safety practices within the College.</li><li>Ensure the College complies with WorkCover legislative requirements, review claims and premiums, and support the return-to-work processes as the Return to Work Coordinator.</li><li>Manage all annual HR compliance reporting requirements including but not limited to WEGA and provide data for reporting to Marist Schools Australia, VRQA, MACS, etc.</li><li>Ensure all academic staff have current VIT registration/WWCC.</li><li>Ensure all operations staff have current WWCC, including follow-up of soon-to-be-outdated WWCC.</li><li>Maintain staff personal files for all staff employment matters, including record keeping for compliance with various legislation (e.g., staff training records, contracts, variations, letters, etc.) and updating staff personal details as required.</li></ul><p><strong>Leave and Absence Management</strong></p><ul><li>Communicate with Leadership Team members all leave requests, approvals, and returns, to ensure that all positions are filled in a timely fashion.</li><li>Reconcile weekly absences and leave to ensure entitlements of staff are accurate. Liaise with Payroll Manager to reconcile absences and leave prior to each pay cycle.</li></ul><p><strong>Policy Development and Advisory</strong></p><ul><li>Contribute to the development and maintenance of relevant policies and procedures.</li><li>Contribute to Risk and Compliance Executive meetings, OH&S meetings, and attend other meetings as required.</li><li>Advise the Senior College Leadership (Principal, Senior Deputy Principal and Business Manager) on all HR matters, including the interpretation of awards and employment agreements.</li><li>Ensure all policies and procedures relevant to the College’s Human Resources are current and reflect the College’s HR practices.</li><li>Advise staff on College employment policies.</li><li>Assist in dealings with IEU Union and other representative groups.</li><li>Evaluate the College’s work environment/conditions and develop strategies to address issues as appropriate.</li><li>Any other duties as directed by the College Principal.</li></ul><p>Please email applications to HR@assumption.vic.edu.au which should include a cover letter, resume and College application form.
