<p>The position is for 30 hours per week (0.79), 5 days (8.30am-3.00pm, but we are open to discussions to vary this) commencing April 22nd 2025 until the end of the year. Conditions for Education Support Employees are covered by the Victorian Catholic Education Multi Enterprise Agreement 2022. Salary classification based on level of experience.</p><p>At St Mary’s Primary School Dandenong, we work really hard with our Community to give each child the capacity to reach their full potential. Sounds like a good place to work, doesn’t it?<br /> </p><p>We are looking for a passionate person who is committed to working in a team with children, providing a rich and rewarding educational experience. This person needs to have a demonstrated commitment to the safety and wellbeing of children.</p><p>The primary objective of the Education Support role is to work collaboratively with teaching staff by supporting them to enhance the learning outcomes of students. Our Learning Support Officers have a strong desire to work collaboratively with children with complex needs and they embrace a collegial, team-based approach to supporting teaching and learning at St Mary’s.</p><p><strong><u>Qualifications and Experience Required:</u></strong></p><p>• Certificate in Education Support or Special Needs is beneficial</p><p>• current &#39;Police and Working With Children Check&#39;</p><p>• names and contact details of at least 3 referees.</p><p><strong><u>Key Selection Criteria:</u></strong></p><p>• ability to create and maintain a supportive, safe and engaging learning environment</p><p>• respond to all students in the classroom in a warm and encouraging manner and build collaborative relationships</p><p>• demonstrate an understanding of appropriate behaviours when engaging with children</p><p>• be familiar and comply with the school&#39;s child-safe policy, standards and code of conduct, and any other policies and procedures relating to child safety</p><p>• capacity to work effectively as a member of staff and acquire new skills</p><p>• capacity to respond pastorally to human and interpersonal issues</p><p>• engage in a professional and collegial manner with colleagues, parents/carers and the community and actively contribute to the development and maintenance of a positive team culture</p><p>• ability to maintain an appropriate level of confidentiality</p><p>• understand and reflect the ethos of a Catholic school</p><p><strong><u>Duties include:</u></strong></p><p>• work in partnership with the teacher to support student learning and implement associated goals as identified in the Personalised Learning Plan.</p><p>• work to promote self-esteem and assist with student social interactions by teaching social skills and discussing social behaviours as required</p><p>• make appropriate adjustments in discussion with the teacher</p><p>• collect data for analysis by the teacher and/or the Student Support Group</p><p>• maintain effective communication with teacher, parents and relevant Leadership Personnel on student performance and strategies to be implemented as identified in the PLP</p><p>• provide relevant and timely feedback to the student during learning sessions</p><p>• support collegiate learning by sharing learnings with colleagues during formal and informal meetings</p><p>• assist with support and supervision on Excursions, camps and other extra curricular activities including sporting events when required</p><p>• respond to all students in the classroom in a warm and encouraging manner and build collaborative relationships.</p><p><strong><u>How to apply:</u></strong></p><p>Applications including a cover letter and a CV should be made in writing and forwarded via email to the Principal:</p><p>Mr Terry Gardiner</p><p>tgardiner&#64;smdandenong.catholic.edu.au</p><p>Applications close: Monday April 14th 2025</p><p>The school reserves the right to appoint the position before the advertised closing date.</p><p>This school community promotes the safety, wellbeing and inclusion of all children.</p><p> </p><p> </p>
