Good Shepherd Wheelers Hill are seeking expressions of interest for an enthusiastic and skilled School Nurse/First Aid Officer The position is for 5 days per week working 4 hours a day (10am - 2pm) and is to commence at the beginning of Term 2, 2025. The position is currently fixed term to the end of the 2026 school year.

<p>We are seeking an enthusiastic and skilled School Nurse to work collaboratively as part of our team.</p><p><strong>ROLE DESCRIPTION</strong></p><p>The School Nurse reports to the Deputy Principal. The key role is to support the health and wellbeing  of students. This role is part of the Wellbeing and Diversity and Child Safety Initiatives at Good Shepherd School, Wheelers Hill.   It is a support service offered to students and parents. </p><p>The primary responsibilities of the School Nurse will be focused on ensuring the wellbeing of all  students from Prep through to Year 6 and more broadly supporting and educating the school  community. The role also includes data entry and other administrative tasks as required. </p><p><strong>POSITION STATUS</strong></p><p>Part-time (5 days per week - 4 hours each day)</p><p>Monday - Friday 10am - 2pm </p><p>Fixed Term Position until the end of the 2026 school year (to commence at the beginning of Term 2, 2025)</p><p><strong>QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED </strong></p><p>Enrolled Nurse</p><p>Current Level 2 First Aid Certificate</p><p><strong>KEY DUTIES &amp; RESPONSIBILITIES </strong></p><p>Be committed to child safety, to maintaining best practices ensuring Child safety and to  ongoing evaluation of these practices </p><p>Have read and be committed to maintaining the standards as set out in our Child Safety Code  of Conduct </p><p>Administer first aid to members of the school community as required </p><p>Administer medication in line with the Good Shepherd Medication Policy and practices </p><p>Ensure EpiPen and Asthma medication and plans are up to date and entered into our Nforma database </p><p>Ensure medical supplies are restocked </p><p>Liaise with parents to ensure medical plans are current, updating and keeping thorough  records in our database</p><p>Contact parents when students are too unwell to stay at school to arrange for them to go home.</p><p>Have clear and professional communication skills and an ability to build relationships with a  range of people and groups within the School Community </p><p>Have a friendly, kind and courteous manner </p><p>Have the ability to think clearly and to remain calm when under pressure </p><p>Have the ability to maintain appropriate levels of confidentiality </p><p>Prepare risk management plans and first aid kit and medicines for excursions and camps and liaise with supervising staff, parents and camp leaders as needed.</p><p>Communicate the medical needs of students to the necessary staff and maintaining staff and  school compliance records </p><p><strong>ALL EMPLOYEES </strong></p><p>Be familiar with and comply with the school&#39;s Child-Safe Policy and Code of Conduct, and any other policies or procedures relating to child safety </p><p>Assist in the provision of a child-safe environment for students </p><p>Demonstrate duty of care to students in relation to their physical and mental wellbeing </p><p>Contribute to a healthy and safe work environment for yourself and others and comply with all safe work policies and procedures </p><p>Attend designated school meetings and events as required by the Principal </p><p>Demonstrate professional and collegiate relationships with colleagues </p><p>Other duties as directed by the Principal from time to time.</p><p> </p>
