The College Counsellor is responsible for delivering mental health and wellbeing services to improve student wellbeing and learning outcomes, and promoting policies, practices and programs that promote student welfare, individual development and wellbeing. The work involves counselling, consultation, assessment, case management and liaison with agencies and other professionals.

Our college community is built on strong values, and we strive to create an inclusive environment where all students are encouraged to reach their full potential. </p><p>We are now seeking a dedicated and passionate individual to join our vibrant and inclusive community for the following opportunity: </p><p><strong>COLLEGE COUNSELLOR</strong></p><p><strong>0.85 FTE – 1.0 FTE</strong></p><p><strong>44 – 52 Weeks Per Year Negotiable</strong></p><p><strong>5 Days Per Week – 7.6 Hours Per Day</strong></p><p>The College Counsellor is responsible for delivering mental health and wellbeing services to improve student wellbeing and learning outcomes. </p><p>The College Counsellor is actively involved in promoting policies, practices and programs that promote student welfare, individual development and wellbeing. </p><p>The work involves counselling, consultation, assessment, case management and liaison with agencies and other professionals.</p><p><strong>Duties and Responsibilities</strong></p><ul><li>Deliver standard professional services to assist schools to maximise the learning outcomes of individuals and groups of students. </li><li>Provide prevention, intervention and postvention practices to support individuals and whole school populations. </li><li>Case-management and coordination of the provision of services across multidisciplinary teams for intervention programs for students with high and/or complex needs. </li><li>Apply professional skills and knowledge to identify, assess and improve mental health, learning and behavioural outcomes for students in collaboration with school personnel, parents/caregivers and other agencies. </li><li>Referral processes. </li><li>Contribute to the development of, and planning for, students with high and/or complex learning needs by assisting in the design of individual education plans. </li><li>Apply evidence-based interventions to promote psychological wellbeing, social, emotional and behavioural development, and to improve educational and psychosocial outcomes. </li><li>Assist with the development and implementation of targeted school-based student support services and programs in collaboration with other staff, relevant professionals and parents/caregivers to support individuals and whole school populations. </li><li>Provide counselling, therapy and programs for individuals and groups. </li><li>Provide professional learning and wellbeing resources to build capacity of schools and families to improve students’ learning and development and wellbeing outcomes. </li><li>Deliver personal and/or social skills education to groups of students. </li><li>Assist with the development of school wellbeing policies and procedures. </li><li>Plan for, respond, and assist the school in its response, to critical incidents and emergencies. </li><li>Provide professional supervision (where appropriately accredited).</li></ul><p><strong>About You </strong></p><p>As a qualified Counsellor you will have the following:</p><ul><li>A Psychotherapy and Counselling Federation of Australia (PACFA) approved/accredited program of study such as Bachelor degree in a relevant field (eg education and/or health and human services) and specialist training in Counselling or Psychotherapy.</li><li>Eligibility for PACFA membership.</li><li>Current and satisfactory National Police Criminal History Check (NPCHC).</li><li>Valid Working with Vulnerable People Registration.</li></ul><p>* Until such time as the professions of social work and counselling are registered through a statutory regulatory model such as the National Registration and Accreditation Scheme (NRAS) for health practitioners, it is a requirement that an Employee classified as Wellbeing Level 3 or 4 who meets the relevant qualifications for social worker or counsellor, also meets the probity, qualification and practice standards set out by the self-regulating professional member associations: </p><ul><li>Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW) for social workers </li><li>Psychotherapy and Counselling Federation of Australia (PACFA) for counsellors</li></ul><p><strong>Salary</strong></p><p>Full Time Salary Range: Wellbeing Level 3, Salary Point 1 $78,419 - Salary Point 4 $90,514 p.a. </p><p>Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience and in accordance with the Tasmanian Catholic Education Single Enterprise Agreement 2018. </p><p><strong>How to Apply</strong></p><p>To find out more about MacKillop Catholic College, the application process and to download all relevant documents please visit:</p><p><a href="https://www.mackillop.tas.edu.au/work-with-us" rel="nofollow">https://www.mackillop.tas.edu.au/work-with-us</a></p><p>Catholic Education Tasmania (CET) supports the rights of children and young people and is committed to providing a safe and supportive environment directed at ensuring their safety and wellbeing.
