<p><strong>LABORATORY TECHNICIAN / ASSISTANT</strong></p><p>A permanent part time position exists for the successful candidate to commence employment for 26 hours per week over 4 – 5 days. The days to be negotiated with the right candidate depending on qualifications.  </p><p>The position will provide technical support to the teaching staff in the Science Department of Cedars Christian College. They will prepare all practical activities and demonstrations in accordance with the demands of the HSC and Years 7- 10 science syllabi, and the guidelines of the Chemical Safety in Schools.  </p><p> </p><p><strong>Duties and Responsibilities: </strong></p><ul><li>Provide support and liaise with Science teaching staff with their needs for practical work</li><li>Ensure that sufficient equipment and materials are on hand in laboratories</li><li>Assist with the delivery of stock and that it is stored appropriately</li><li>Prepare equipment and chemicals for use in laboratories and including advice on SDS information</li><li>Maintain safe chemical purchasing, storage, handling and disposal system in accordance with current regulations</li><li>Advise Science teaching staff on technical components of curriculum</li><li>Stock take equipment and materials</li><li>Carry out simple maintenance on equipment, report damages and arrange for repairs</li><li>Set up equipment and materials for classroom activities. Clear up after use and ensure that equipment is in safe condition</li><li>Develop maintenance procedures for laboratory equipment</li><li>Stocktake of all chemicals in the school</li><li>Sourcing up-to-date SDS for all hazardous chemicals and all chemicals used by students</li></ul><p><strong>Qualifications: </strong></p><ul><li>Science / chemical experience desirable</li><li>Excellent communication skills</li><li>Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment</li><li>Attention to detail</li><li>Ability to work flexible hours</li></ul>
