<p>We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Music Program Teacher to join our thriving and well-established music program at St Pats, St Arnaud. Our school has been offering music education for the past 8 years, influenced by the Orff and Kodály approaches. The music program emphasises group music-making, creativity, and the joy of music. This role offers the opportunity to teach students from Foundation to Grade 6 and contribute to an engaging and dynamic arts education experience.</p><p><strong>Key Responsibilities:</strong></p><ul><li>Deliver<strong> 2 x 45-minute music lessons per week</strong> for students, with an emphasis on group music-making, including:<ul><li><strong>Xylophones and marimbas</strong></li><li><strong>Percussion instruments</strong></li><li><strong>Ukulele</strong></li><li><strong>Singing and vocal training</strong></li><li><strong>Movement and rhythm activities</strong></li><li><strong>Improvisation and composition</strong></li><li><strong>Introduction to guitar</strong> (for senior students, with access to a full class set of 3/4 acoustic guitars)</li></ul></li><li>Facilitate <strong>regular music composition sessions</strong>, encouraging students to use various music software programs on <strong>Chromebooks</strong> to enhance creativity and musical skills.</li><li>Support students in <strong>developing musical literacy</strong>, understanding rhythm, melody, and harmony.</li><li>Actively contribute to the <strong>annual school musical</strong>, which has been a longstanding tradition for 10 years. The musical is professionally produced and provides students with the opportunity to showcase their skills in a live performance.</li><li>Collaborate with school leadership and staff to contribute to the <strong>town's annual Carols in the Square event</strong> and other <strong>community performance opportunities</strong>, helping to strengthen the school’s connection with the local community through music.</li><li>Foster a <strong>positive, inclusive, and collaborative learning environment</strong> that encourages enthusiasm and a love of music.</li><li>Work closely with other teaching staff to integrate music education into the broader curriculum and school events.</li><li>Provide opportunities for students to engage in <strong>performance and improvisation</strong>.</li><li>Track student progress, offer constructive feedback, and adjust teaching methods to cater to the needs of all learners.</li></ul><p><strong>Required Qualifications and Skills:</strong></p><ul><li><strong>Teaching Qualification</strong>, or equivalent professional experience in music teaching.</li><li><strong>Experience in teaching</strong> music using <strong>Orff and Kodály approaches</strong> or a willingness to learn and incorporate these methods.</li><li><strong>Proficiency in a range of musical instruments</strong>, including percussion, ukulele, xylophones, marimbas, and guitar.</li><li><strong>Comfortable with music technology</strong>, including composing and arranging music using software programs.</li><li><strong>Strong communication skills</strong>, with the ability to engage and inspire students.</li><li>Passion for <strong>collaborative music-making</strong> and creating a positive and inclusive classroom environment.</li><li>Ability to adapt teaching methods to meet the diverse needs and abilities of students.</li><li>Experience in <strong>directing or assisting with school musicals</strong> is preferred but not required.</li></ul><p><strong>Desirable Skills:</strong></p><ul><li>Knowledge or experience with <strong>music production software</strong>.</li><li>Familiarity with <strong>elementary and secondary school music curricula</strong>.</li><li>Experience in <strong>leading music ensembles</strong> or music-related extracurricular activities.</li></ul><p><strong>Why Join Us?</strong><br />At St Pats, we pride ourselves on providing a well-rounded, creative, and dynamic education.
