We are seeking a suitably experienced Student Counsllor to join our college Wellbeing team on a Part-Time Fixed Term contract.

<p>We are seeking a suitably experienced Student Counsellor to join our College Wellbeing team on a Part-time 0.75 FTE, fixed term basis.</p><p>The Student Counsellor will work with a team of teachers and student welfare personnel in the area of student support. The Student Counsellor will fully understand Child Safety requirements at the College and will ensure that all elements of the role promote the safety, wellbeing and inclusion of all children.</p><p><strong>Key responsibilities include:</strong></p><p>Responsibilities to Students:</p><ul><li>Provide individual and group counselling to students</li><li>Be a liaison with parents regarding their concerns for the child</li><li>Assess student needs and develop appropriate case management plans to meet those needs</li><li>Follow-up on issues and/or students who are identified as being at-risk</li><li>Work with the school staff to increase students’ life skills, personal development, and social connectedness</li><li>Identify issues affecting secondary students and develop responses to those issues</li><li>To be a liaison with external agencies to maintain a network of support agencies.  These include community health centres, adolescent mental health centres, mediation, and counselling services</li><li>Document contact with students and review progress with ongoing clients</li><li>To be involved (as requested) in the planning, delivery and coordination of Personal Development Programs and Seminar days</li><li>Inform the Director of Counselling of emerging issues in student welfare</li><li>Other duties as directed by the Deputy Principal (Wellbeing) from time to time</li></ul><p>Responsibilities to Staff:</p><ul><li>Collaborate effectively as part of the student support team and liaise as required with key college personnel</li><li>Develop strategies to help teachers identify student needs, take action to meet those needs within the school program and monitor and review progress</li><li>Assist classroom teachers in aspects of the curriculum that focus on personal development issues</li><li>Assist in the Years 6 to 7 and Years 9 to 10 transition processes as needed</li><li>Provide support to staff regarding managing/supporting students</li><li>Convene progress meetings as required for those students identified as being at risk, and attend other meetings as appropriate</li><li>Other duties as directed by the Deputy Principal (Wellbeing) from time to time</li></ul><p><strong>The successful candidate will have the following experience, skills and attributes:</strong></p><ul><li>Relevant qualifications (Counselling/Psychology/Social Work degree or higher; or equivalent), combined with relevant counselling experience</li><li>Demonstrated high level interpersonal and communication skills, with a proven ability to consult, counsel and liaise with a wide range of people from culturally diverse backgrounds</li><li>Proficiency in the use of the Microsoft Office suite of products and computer systems including One Note, TEAMS &amp;
