Working at St Patrick’s College, Strathfield means joining a community of highly motivated, passionate, professional and experienced individuals who are known for our inclusivity, expertise and dedication to our students, education and each other.</p><p>We are immensely proud of the opportunities that are afforded to students here at St Patrick’s, with a robust Co-curricular sporting and cultural program, excellence in learning and teaching, and faith formation and prayer life. </p><p><strong>2 year full-time temporary contract position – Commence Friday 24 January 2025</strong></p><p>Reporting to the Director of Co-curricular, through the Head of Sport, the Head of Athletic Development will be responsible for the overall management, promotion and development of the College's Athletic Development Program from Year 5 to Year 12.</p><p>This position will be expected to lead, develop and implement strength and conditioning training programs, oversee the training facilities and support the physical development of students through data-driven performance analysis. Thus, it is expected you will work collaboratively with the Co-curricular Team and Head of PDHPE to ensure a cohesive approach to training, competition and personal growth, while also promoting a positive and inclusive athletic culture within the College community. </p><p>Ultimately, we would like to ensure that we have an Athletic Development Program that is unique to St Patrick’s College, and one that provides boys and coaches a well organised and administered program in addition to a practical, functional and achievable pathway to achieve both individual and team success and enjoyment. </p><p><strong>Key Responsibilities</strong></p><ul><li>To develop a comprehensive St Patrick’s Physical Development curriculum / program for students aged 10 - 18, to be followed by the Head of PDHPE, the PDHPE faculty, College coaches and their respective teams.</li><li>Oversee the implementation of the Physical Development curriculum / program and monitor its effectiveness regularly.</li><li>Design talent identification strategies focusing on physical attributes to aid in sport selection.</li><li>Cultivate and manage the implementation of a progressive skill and training for all ages, levels and sports. </li><li>Provide hands-on coaching in the gym and/or on the fields.</li><li>Collaborate with sports heads to improve player development.</li><li>Manage data to monitor physical development progress.</li><li>Lead and oversee a team of Strength and Conditioning (S&C) casual coaches.</li><li>Enhance the skills and knowledge of S&C coaches.</li><li>Coordinate with external stakeholders, including medical professional, external coaches to allow representative/elite level players to train with outside programs at the College and schools and governing bodies such as ISA and IPSHA. </li><li>Offer educational opportunities for both parents and students.</li><li>Engage in and contribute to College sports related events. </li><li>Ensure compliance matters pertaining to coaches are met and records kept in consultation with the Director of Human Resources, Risk and Governance, and Director of Co-curricular.</li></ul><p>You will be able to demonstrate you satisfy the following essential selection criteria:</p><p><strong>Essential Criteria</strong></p><ul><li>Bachelor of Exercise and Sports Sciences or similar. </li><li>Current ASCA L2 Strength and Conditioning Coach Accreditation.</li><li>Extensive working knowledge of concussion and serious injury response and management.</li><li>Excellent planning, organisation, coordination and problem-solving skills.</li><li>Excellent administration and written communication skills.</li><li>Ability to exercise substantial independent judgement and initiative.</li><li>Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and build strong and collaborative working relationships with key stakeholders.</li><li>Ability to maintain an environment in which all students participate enthusiastically and where they strive to excel.</li><li>Valid Working with Children Check (WWCC) clearance.</li><li>First Aid and CPR qualifications or a willingness to undertake.</li><li>A strong sense of community. </li></ul><p><strong>Desirable Criteria: </strong></p><ul><li>Extensive experience in the youth and/or school environment.</li><li>Experience with rehab management, preferably through working with a multidisciplinary environment.</li><li>High level of skills in data management and testing technologies. </li><li>Required to be available for weekends.</li></ul><p><strong>How to apply</strong></p><p>To express your interest in joining our highly motivated professional staff, apply via the online ‘Career Application’ available on our website <a href="https://www.spc.nsw.edu.au/working-spc/" rel="nofollow">Working at SPC | St Patrick's College Strathfield</a></p><p>Your application should consist of:</p><ul><li><strong>Cover letter</strong> (maximum 2 pages) that highlights your claim for the role and demonstrates your suitability.</li><li><strong>Resume</strong> (maximum 3 pages) detailing relevant work history, skills and experience.</li></ul><p>Essential to this position is a commitment to the Catholic ethos of a School in the Edmund Rice tradition together with a commitment to the safety, wellbeing and dignity of all children and young people. </p><p>Evidence of a valid WWCC clearance will be required prior to employment.</p><p><strong>Applications close 4:00PM Monday 2 December 2024.</strong></p><p>Please contact the Human Resources Adviser on 02 8705 9251 for a confidential discussion regarding your interest in this opportunity.</p><p>St Patrick’s College is a child safe and child-centred organisation, committed to the protection of children and has zero-tolerance of any abuse of children.
